Scary Tales of New York

Experience the gritty, cynical world of the great crime novelists of the 1930s to 1950s in Impossible Factual’s latest project, Scary Tales of New York. Our team has meticulously restored iconic film footage from the age of New York Noir, brought them to life with visual flair.

Using our in-house state-of-the-art technology, we have stabilised and frame-rate corrected old, grainy footage to deliver a crisp and detailed 4K window into the real mean streets of New York over ninety years ago. Our unique restoration techniques have transformed 8mm and 16mm footage into a visual masterpiece, transporting audiences back in time.

Interspersed with our restored archive, we also showcase colourised archive. With no shortage of contemporary newsreel footage the production team at Impossible Factual, led by Director Steve Maher, have masterfully intercut this 'evidence' with modern shots of New York; from which we removed modern street furniture, cars and even buildings from to deliver a fully immersive experience that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

It all comes together seamlessly to tell the Scary Tales of New York.
