24 Hours D-Day

Step into the intense, hour-by-hour reality of one of the most pivotal days in history with Spiegel TV’s latest documentary project, 24 Hours D-Day. With painstaking attention to detail, our team has colourised and restored archival footage from June 6th, 1945, bringing the drama and chaos of the Normandy landings vividly to life.

Using our advanced in-house restoration technology, we’ve stabilised, cleaned, and frame-corrected fragile black-and-white footage, presenting it in breathtaking clarity. Rare 16mm and 35mm film reels have been transformed into immersive cinematic experiences, offering viewers a striking, ground-level view of the D-Day invasion like never before.

Drawing from a deep well of wartime newsreels, the team at Spiegel TV – led by Director Michael Kloft – has seamlessly woven together original imagery that charts the unfolding of D-Day, hour by hour. As a vast Allied armada lands on the beaches of Normandy, facing fierce German resistance aimed at defending Hitler’s hold on France, the documentary captures the exact course of this fateful “longest day” with striking authenticity - recreating the moment that signalled the beginning of Western Europe’s liberation from Nazi rule.

All these elements combine to form 24 Hours D-Day - a gripping, immersive account of the Allied invasion that changed the course of World War II.
